Alonzo Gee capitalized his opportunities in a 101-90 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder last night. Steven Adams thought about coming in to try and contest the dunk, but for his own sake, he was thankfully smart enough to stay back and keep himself off a poster that would have been hung in many rooms across the world. Gee got up and almost seemed like he was still playing at Alabama.
The dunk gave Gee just 2 of his 11 points in the loss, a performance which also included 5 rebounds and an assist in 24 minutes of play. Gee gave Portland the energy they needed as they wanted to keep in the game and not get blown out by a OKC team fighting for their lives in the playoffs.
This season, Gee has been averaging 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and .5 assists per game. He will be an option for Portland to bring off the bench and give some production when needed as playoffs roll in. For now, at least he has this dunk in the back of his mind.
