New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez is now the 29th member of the 3000 hits club. He cranked his 13th homerun of the season to deep right field in the first inning off Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander.
A-Rod is the first player to reach 3,000 hits since Derek Jeter did in 2011. Jeter and Rodriguez are also the only 2 members of the club to reach that milestone while wearing pinstripes for the Yankees.
It was Rodriguez’ 667th homerun for his career, staying solid in the fourth spot for most career homeruns. This is just the latest monkey to come off Alex’s back as he also passed Willie Mays earlier this year on the homerun list, only trailing Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds on the All-Time Homeruns list.
