Philadelphia 76ers are unleashing a new mascot for the team and it’s coming soon. February 10th in fact will be the reveal of the new Sixers mascot to the masses. The telecast during the Philadelphia 76ers recent game against the Minnesota Timberwolves showed parts of a video with secretive messages teasing the announcement of the new mascot.
An according to the videos tagline it will be “For kids, By kids.”
The location in the video was a secret location inside the offices of the Sixers’ headquarters and showed quick hints of what the mascot may look like.
If you watch the video in the entirety you can see some clues that were eluded too by CSN Philly’s ‘700 Level’ writer Enrico Campitelli.
Here’s what we know so far for sure:
– The tagline of the video is, “for kids, by kids.”
– The mascot is at least partially (if not entirely) furry and blue.
– The mascot appears to enjoy throwing pencils up at the ceiling. And photocopying his hand/paws.
– The mascot has five digits on its appendage, which looks to be in the shape of a paw.
The official reveal will happen on February 10th at the Franklin Institute where the unveiling will take place at 1:00 pm. The Sixers are off that day but the game after will be be 10 long days later following the NBA’s All-Star break on February 20th and will see the Sixers hosting the Indiana Pacers for the mascot’s first appearance at a Sixers game.
I personally hope it’s cookie monster. I mean, it’s for kids, by kids, right?
