CAA Sports represents several NBA stars including Chris Paul, Paul George, and Carmelo Anthony. The group also works for Oladipo’s teammate and backcourt partner Elfrid Payton.
Oladipo will be a restricted free agent after next season so perhaps the change in agents is caused by that impending scenario. The shooting guard has shown a lot in his time in his three seasons in the league but as it stands now, there is no telling whether he would receive a large offer in free agency. He will have a chance to do that in his contract year under a new coach, his fourth in his Magic tenure.
There has not been any indication as to why Victor Oladipo made the change but it seems apparent that it is at least related to his impending free agency. With cap rises coming, it makes sense for him to try to get as much money as possible.
