Chicago’s own Vic Mensa has been making moves recently. Throughout the first half of 2018, Mensa has signed with United Talent Agency, opened up for Little Dragon, spoken at Princeton University and most recently, he unveiled his new skinhead look. Today, Mensa got back to the music side of things with a G-Eazy assisted track called “Reverse”. Produced by Marshmello, the track is a bit outside of Mensa’s typical lane, but nevertheless, he sounds comfortable. Throughout the record, Mensa and G-Eazy trade bars and stunt for the fans.
Mensa plays around with a Migos like flow in the first verse when he raps, “Keep her panty droppin’, ridin’ shotgun like she Kurt/We been through the traffic, with my ratchet in the purse/In a Saint Laurent straight jacket, if I crash I go berserk/Overseas I need a Visa/Breezin’ in Ibiza/Tryna’ see me when i’m speedin’/You get burnt like Derek Jeter.” G-Eazy counters Mensa’s verse by saying, “I get clothes from Vaccarello, I get Céline from Slimane/I get packages from Paris, drop that Fed-Ex, sign my name/I get runway, off the runway, to the runway on the plane/Told you we are not the same, see that Spider switchin’ lanes?/Give it some gas, look at the dash/What is he doin’? He goin’ fast/Look at the whip, look at him smash/Look at him skrrt, look at the cash/It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a man that’s gone insane.”
It’s unclear whether or not this is a loose track or Mensa has more on the way in preparation for a full project, but for now you can check out Vic Mensa’s new single, “Reverse”.
