Both TMZ and the Los Angeles Times have reported that Vanessa Bryant has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the company that operated the helicopter that her husband and daughter died in last month. Bryant reportedly filed the lawsuit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court against Island Express Helicopters and Island Express Holding Corp. The lawsuit alleges that the late pilot Ara Zobayan was “negligent” and failed “to use ordinary care in piloting the subject aircraft.”
“Defendant Island Express Helicopters’ breach of its duty and negligence caused the injuries and damages complained of herein and Plaintiffs’ deceased, Kobe Bryant, was killed as a direct result of the negligent conduct of Zobayan for which Defendant Island Express Helicopters is vicariously liable in all respects,” the lawsuit states.
Kobe Bryant died along his daughter in a plane crash last month. Today, he will be honored in a public ceremony at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California.
More details will be reported as they become available.
