The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has decided to back to campaign of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s primary challenger, Michelle Caruso-Cabrera. In partnership with Caruso-Cabrera, the Chamber of Commerce will raise money and collaborate with businesses in Queens prior to the June 23rd primary. These funds will likely add on to the $1 million she raised during the first six weeks of her campaign.
“Michelle is one of the most qualified and competent candidates we have met with this cycle. Her communication skills on jobs and growth will create a clear contrast with AOC,” U.S. Chamber of Commerce Senior Political Strategist Scott Reed said.
“We plan on using our national network to get her the financial resources to win this race,” he continued.
Prior to running for office, Caruso-Cabrera worked as a CNBC anchor. She also has worked as a pollster for former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Currently, she works alongside high-profile political strategist such as E. O’Brien Murray and Doug Schoen.
Despite her efforts, Caruso-Cabrera is considered a major underdog competing against Ocasio-Cortez this summer. The freshman congresswoman has not issued a statement regarding these most recent developments.
