Los Angeles Clipper’s star point guard, Chris Paul, underwent an MRI on his right shoulder on Sunday. After evaluations from team doctors, Paul has been declared out six weeks with a separated right shoulder. After the MRI and evaluation, it is confirmed that Paul will not need surgery on the right shoulder.
Paul initially hurt his right shoulder when he fell to the ground in Friday’s win against the Dallas Mavericks. Now without Paul, Darren Collison takes the starting spot at point guard. Collison has struggled to optimize his potential with the Clippers in the backup role. The Clippers also recently waived third-string point guard Maalik Wayns, opening another roster spot. So, it looks as if the Clippers are without a backup point guard as of now. This will put the ball in Jamal Crawford’s hands a lot more.
Doc Rivers said, ” There are a few guys who could get out of their contracts in China. So you’re looking at all that stuff.”
With Paul out, and Collison slightly struggling, look for Blake Griffin and Jamal Crawford to carry more weight on their shoulders for the Clippers. Also, watch for the Clippers to add someone to the roster in the next couple of weeks.
