The 2016 mock Drafts are starting to flow in (We’ll begin ours soon, stay tuned for that) and as the mockers continue to mock. The players that are filling those big boards are declaring their eligibility for that Draft.
Most of these players are declaring while we sit there unsurprised. Which brings me to one Stephen Zimmerman, 7″0 Freshman at UNLV, who is taking the One & Done.
Zimmerman, 19, plans to sign with an agent and eliminate the opportunity to withdraw and return to college basketball before the NCAA’s May 25 deadline, sources said.
A formal announcement is expected early this week.
NBA executives told The Vertical that Zimmerman, mobile, skilled and a good shot-blocker, has the potential to move into the top half of the draft with some strong performances in pre-draft workouts.
Now from the stats he wasn’t far off averaging a double-double, which is nice. Most boards have him mid-late 1st round. And like we always say. You can’t teach 7 feet. So with all that said, he has a chance in the league, but these days people want that little bit more from bigs these days. Hopefully he can become a force defensively, that’ll help him very much as he steps up into the pros.
