As we officially approach the NBA Draft and free agency period of the NBA offseason, rumors regarding the top available players are flying around at full force. Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is one of those players, as he will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st and is expected to garner plenty of attention.
However, after it was recently reported that Lowry had ‘zero interest’ in remaining with Toronto, team President Masai Ujiri says, as far as he knows, his point guard wants to return with the Raptors. Following from Josh Lewenberg of TSN Sports:
Ujiri on Lowry-"He says he wants to come back… This is rumour season… I know what Kyle has told me. I can only believe what he tells me"

Ujiri also pointed out that he has been working out in Toronto and even took some of his Raptor teammates to do Pilates recently.

Kyle Lowry said prior to the offseason kicking off that his priority in free agency is to be on a team that gives him a legit chance to win a championship ring. While the Raptors have a solid core comprised of Lowry and backcourt mate DeMar DeRozan, they still have ways to go before they are considered true title contenders.
Lowry had previously been linked to the Philadelphia 76ers but after they traded for the top pick in this week’s draft, it’s more than likely they have found their point guard of the future in Markelle Fultz. If Ujiri’s statements hold true, look for Lowry and the Raptors to hammer out a deal fairly quickly once free agency starts.
