The captain is not done yet. According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, Miami Heat legend Udonis Haslem will return to the team on a one-year and $2.6 million deal.

He will remain in his veteran leadership and lockerroom voice for the young players with minimal playing time that he’s had for the last five seasons. In that period, he has played in only 45 games and, most recently, finished the 2020-21 season with a classic Haslem, getting an ejection after two minutes of play against the Philadelphia 76ers.

After some big moves at the start of the free agency period, there were spots left in the roster to fill and not a lot of money to spend for that purposes. The team brought back most of the young players that had their contracts expired like Max Strus and Gabe Vincent as well as the veterans like Dewayne Dedmon and Haslem. Still, the team has one more spot and the two-way contracts left to fill.
Currently, Haslem is both the oldest player with 41 years and the longest-tenured player in the league amongst active players playing all his 19 seasons with the Heat.
