Tyson Chandler is back with the Mavericks this season after being traded from the New York Knicks and couldn’t feel more focused.
In a recent interview, Chandler said “at times he felt like a scapegoat during his time in the big apple, believing he occasionally received too much blame for the Knicks disappointing 2013-2014 season.
In the season prior, the Knicks made it to the Eastern Conference semi-finals only to follow that up with a 37-45 record while missing the playoffs last season.
Chandler was then traded in the offseason to Dallas, who he won a title with in 2011, in a six player deal where he has taken on a leadership role in the Mavericks locker room something he really wasn’t well-known for in the Knicks locker room.
“I feel like New York made me stronger,” Chandler said. “A lot stronger of a person going through trails and tribulations there but that’s life.”
Mavs owner Mark Cuban has nothing but praise for his 7″1 big man saying, “He’s been a great help, a great impact on the court, a great impact off the court. Everything we thought he was, he was.”
Chandler will face his former team for the first time since being traded on Wednesday night in Dallas.
