Game one of the 2017 NBA Finals started out great. Both teams traded punches and it looked as though we were destined for a classic series.
Then, the Warriors happened.
The Golden State Warriors, led primarily by Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry, got hot and ran the Cavaliers off the court in the second half, finishing game one with a resounding blowout. It was a stellar, other-worldly effort from GSW as they once again looked like arguably the greatest team ever assembled.
That’s certainly what Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue believes, as he told reporters after his team’s game one defeat:

“Yeah, they’re the best I’ve ever seen. […] They’re the best I’ve ever seen. No team has ever done this, right? You know, 13-0. And they constantly break records every year, last year being 73-9, this year starting the playoffs 13-0. They’re playing good basketball but we can play better.”
Think about how crazy it is for Lue to admit this right away. He played on the Lakers’ team that went 15-1 in the playoffs and dominated everyone en route to their second straight championship. That Tyronn Lue is adamant that these Warriors are the best he’s ever seen.
And he’s probably right.
