Head Coach Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have picked up the commitment of 2022 four-star small forward Tyler Nickel. He is ranked as the 83rd overall recruit and the 23rd overall small forward in the 2022 recruiting class. Nickel committed to the Tar Heels over the Virginia Tech Hokies, Iowa Hawkeyes, LSU Tigers, and Butler Bulldogs. Hubert Davis is building a loaded 2022 recruiting class in preparation for several players moving on as graduates or to the NBA.

Tyler Nickel went into this past weekend as a guy that was seen as a Virginia Tech lean. Things quickly changed after his visit to Chapel Hill over the weekend. Big-time get for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels.#UNC

Tyler Nickel is the 4th 2022 recruit to commit to the Tar Heels so far. He joins center Jalen Washington, point guard Seth Trimble, and center Will Shaver on the list of players in the 2022 class to commit to North Carolina. Nickel is a talented scoring wing and will likely spend at least two or three years on the Tar Heel’s roster. This commitment is right in line with the modern offense Hubert Davis is expected to run at North Carolina.

Head Coach Hubert Davis is entering his first year as the top name at North Carolina and expectations will be high. Continuing to land talented recruits like Nickel is a big part of why North Carolina is a top basketball program. The new-look Tar Heels’ begin their play this year, but Tyler Nickel will not suit up for the program until the Fall of 2022.
