
Miami Heat guard Tyler Johnson underwent successful surgery on his left thumb, the team announced Monday:
The Miami HEAT announced today that guard Tyler Johnson underwent successful surgery this morning to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb.
The procedure was performed by Dr. Anne Ouellette and HEAT team physician Dr. Harlan Selesnick at Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute at Doctors Hospital. Johnson will be in a cast for six weeks and is expected to make a full recovery and be available for training camp.
Johnson appeared in 72 games, including 39 starts, for the Heat this season, averaging 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 28.5 minutes per game on 43.5 percent shooting.
In the playoffs, Johnson started in all five of the Heat’s games vs. the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged eight points and 1.6 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per game, while shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from 3-point range.
Johnson, 25, is in his fourth season with the Heat after going undrafted out of California State University, Fresno, in 2014.
