The declarations are slowly coming in. Most of them are unsurprising, Exum, Warren and now Syracuse guard Tyler Ennis has declared for the 2014 NBA Draft.
Ennis has had a very solid freshman year, along with the occasional clutch performances. Here’s his goodbye message to the Orange faithful via Cuse.com
I’d like to thank Coach Boeheim, the coaching staff, my teammates and the amazing fans of Syracuse for the opportunity to play at a great university like Syracuse.
I feel this experience has helped prepare me to fulfill my lifelong dream – to play in the NBA
Ennis is second-team All-ACC and is considered a borderline lottery pick according to DraftExpress. They have him at 15th in the first round.
ESPN’s Chad Ford ranks him as the ninth-best player overall and third-best point guard in the 2014 class.
As a freshman, Ennis averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 5.5 assists while leading Syracuse to a 28-6 record overall, people considered the Cuse season to be a little bit watered down because of the way they lost some of the games but Ennis was solid individually and that’s why he’s considered a 9-15th pick in the Draft.
Now we move on to Joel Embiid. Multiple reports earlier today told the basketball world that the no.1 pick hopeful Joel Embiid has declared for the Draft.
Well it turns out that it’s not official just yet. But talking heads say it’ll happen by the weekend.
Personally I want him to stay another year. Yes I know you can’t teach 7 feet so why should he stay, I just don’t think it’ll hurt just getting some more skills under his belt.
But with all the arguing over “should student athletes be forced to stay or not?” I’m won’t be surprised if Embiid declares.
