Ty Lawson has had one of the most drastic declines in recent NBA memory. Last season he averaged 15.2 points and 9.6 assists per game. The year before that, 17.6 points and 8.8 assists. He was easily one of the top-10 point guards in the NBA, in today’s era, which has more talent at the point guard position than ever before.
This season, the script has flipped for the worse. Lawson’s playing 24.8 minutes per game for the Houston Rockets, the lowest since his second season in the league. He’s averaging a career-low 6.4 points per game, and is shooting career-lows from the field(37.1%), from deep(31.3%), and from the foul line(70.2%). Those are pretty awful numbers, and Lawson has seriously let himself go this season. He’s showed up out of shape, and struggling with the seemingly endless DUIs on his record. The Rockets are reportedly interested in trading Lawson despite the fact that his value has never been lower. That’s a really bad sign for Lawson’s worth on and off the court.
Ty Lawson just received a brand new suspension for a DUI in California. From USA Today’s Jeff Zillgitt:
Rockets G Ty Lawson suspended three games without pay for driving under the influence of alcohol in California.

Lawson's three-game suspension follows his two-game suspension last month for similar driving while impaired offense in Colorado.

This is an unpaid suspension, and he’ll lose out on some money, according to Yahoo Sports’ Bobby Marks.
Ty Lawson suspension will cost him $338k total for the 3 games suspended. Lawson already lost $225k in wages from a previous suspension.

Lawson is a very talented player, but his stock has plummeted. He needs to figure out his off-court issues if he wants to go back to being an impact player in this league.
