Things in the Denver Nuggets world aren’t exactly the best they could be right now. They find themselves in the bottom half of the Western Conference, their coach just seems lost and there has been rumors of trades all year with them.
Now with the trade deadline coming up
Following from Grantland’s Zach Lowe.
They’ve been seeking multiple first-round picks for both Wilson Chandler and Arron Afflalo, talking with obvious contender types like the Blazers and ambulance-chasing with banged-up playoff teams like the Wizards. Snagging two firsts for Timofey Mozgov emboldened the Denver front office to chase big returns, and the rest of the league is waiting for Denver to step back as the deadline approaches. Anyone could have JaVale McGee for a fruit basket.
The more interesting questions surround Ty Lawson and Kenneth Faried. Denver isn’t shopping those guys, but Jusuf Nurkic is the only true untouchable on the roster, per several league sources who have dealt with the Nuggets. The sense around the league is that you could land Lawson or Faried with a Godfather offer. They are gettable. Boston and Denver have had exploratory talks about Lawson, per several sources.
Well that just means basically their entire roster is available for trade, including their best players, Ty Lawson and Kenneth Faried. That is in addition to the often rumored Arron Afflalo and Wilson Chandler, who have been talked bout being traded for a while.
It’s much harder to imagine Faried getting moved but never doubt the talents and abilities of NBA executives. Faried’s 4-year, $50 million extension kicks in next season, which might scare teams off who don’t see Faried in their future plans. He is still a young 25 years old so the future is bright for Faried and he brings energy through that as shown in his stats averaging 15.4 points per game and 11 rebounds per game.
According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelbourne, the talk about Afflalo has started already.
No serious talks yet for Arron Afflalo, but word is OKC, Kings, Bulls, Clippers have discussed. Would be an interesting add for a contender
