Kanye West may be looking for a new social media home. On Sunday evening, Twitter confirmed that it had restricted the account of the Grammy-winning musician after he issued a series of sporadic tweets.
“Going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” Kanye West tweeted on Saturday.
“You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”
Shortly after Kanye West issued those tweets, the Anti-Defamation League, Black Jewish Entertainment Alliance and several other organizations condemned his statements.
“The behavior exhibited this week by Kanye West is deeply troubling, dangerous, and antisemitic, period. There is no excuse for his propagating of white supremacist slogans and classic anti-semitism about Jewish power, especially with the platform he has,” the ADL tweeted.
“Ye’s recent statements about the Jewish community are hurtful, offensive, and wrong. They perpetuate stereotypes that have been the basis for discrimination and violence against Jews for thousands of years. Words like this tear at the fabric of the Black-Jewish relationship,” the Black Jewish Entertainment Alliance added.
This is not the first time that Kanye West’s social media activity has landed him in hot water. Previously, Instagram restricted West’s account, leading him to return to Twitter. At the moment, it’s unclear to what extent West’s account is restricted and how long these limitations will be left in place.
