House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has formally announced that there will be an impeachment inquiry into the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump. Pelosi made the announcement in the nation’s capital after an intense meeting with her caucus.
The impeachment inquiry comes shortly after a whistle blower alleged that President Trump had pressured a Ukrainian official to investigate former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.
Trump has fiercely denied these allegations and proclaimed his innocence of any wrongdoing. However, Biden remains unmoved. The 2020 U.S. Presidential Candidate has stated that he will support impeachment proceedings if Trump does not comply with investigations into his conversations with Ukrainian nationals. Most recently, Trump has moved to release unredacted transcripts of the conversation.
Trump tweeted, “You will see it was a very friendly and totally appropriate call. No pressure and, unlike Joe Biden and his son, NO quid pro quo! This is nothing more than a continuation of the Greatest and most Destructive Witch Hunt of all time!”
As of now, there is now timetable for when these transcripts will be released. More details will be reported as they become available.
