Nearly one week ago, a grand jury in Manhattan voted to indict former President Donald Trump. By doing so, Trump became the first former President to be criminally charged by a grand jury. Later today, the former President will reportedly be arraigned at a Manhattan courtroom. Despite being accused of misfiling “hush money” payments as “legal fees,” the former President is expected to plead not guilty to the charges levied against him.
“One thing I can assure you of as I sit here today: There will be no guilty plea in this case. That’s one thing I can guarantee you,” Trump’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, told Good Morning America.
In the midst of his legal troubles, Donald Trump is still moving forward with his bid to become the next President of the United States. Recently, attorney Joe Tacopina went as far as to say that the former President’s ongoing legal troubles have boosted his fundraising efforts.
“Most people get indicted, and if they happen to be running for an office or something, that’s sort of the end of their run and most likely their political career. Donald Trump gets indicted and his numbers go through the roof,” Tacopina told Newsmax Host Eric Bolling.
“He’s raising more money than he had before and that’s simply because his base — they are now fully aware that everything he was saying about the justice system being weaponized against him, about his political opponents taking action through the justice system, is coming to fruition.”
