Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to run back the team next season. As opposed to doing a rebuild, they will look to bring back the same guys they had last season, except with the hopes of health being on the side of the Cavaliers.
Tristan Thompson, who’s stock rose as the season went on, will be returning to the Cavs on a 5-year, $80 Million deal to sure up the Cavaliers Roster.
ESPN sources tell @WindhorstESPN & I that Cavs and Tristan Thompson are nearing agreement on deal that will pay the RFA in excess of $80 mil

Thompson and Love both agreeing to a contract at right around the same time could be a blessing in disguise for Cleveland. They lock in two big men who can play off each other and play together if needed. Thompson can rebound and score easy points in the paint and Love can stretch the floor and create his own shot if needed. Now that these two are locked up along with Timofey Mozgov earlier in the week, it’s now up to the Cavs to make a couple more deals that will make LeBron James happy.
UPDATE:
Brian Windhorst of ESPN is reporting that the two sides are still apart on the proposed deal from yesterday.
After progress was made yesterday, Cavs & Tristan Thompson are currently still apart on contract talks, sources told ESPN.
