Tristan Thompson has ended his hold out and will report to the Cavs. Both parties have finally come to terms on a new contact that will pay Thompson $82 million over five years according to Cleveland.com.
Thompson’s fight for a new contract was highly publicized this summer, with guys like LeBron James speaking out publicly on the subject.
Cleveland originally said they weren’t going to offer a max contact to Thompson back in August, to which the forward responded by saying he would leave via free agency next season.
Thompson averaged 8.5 points and and 8.0 rebounds in 26.5 minutes per game last season, but saw his minutes and play raised after Kevin Love disloacted his shoulder against the Celtics in the Playoffs.
With this issue behind both sides, Cleveland now has one of their best players happy and has him locked up long term, as the Cavs are expected to be title contenders for the upcoming season.
