Music is a tale of generations sometimes clashing, but often times coming together. In recent weeks, we’ve seen the legends of past generations team up with younger stars. Don Toliver linked up with Nas for his last project. More recently, Big Sean called on Lil’ Wayne for a record off of his latest album, Detroit 2. Joining the list of inter-generational collaborations, Trippie Redd called on Busta Rhymes for his newest single.
This time around, Trippie Redd pays homage to the likes of Busta Rhymes and Mariah Carey with “I Got You.” Early on, Trippie Redd interpolates the duo’s hit record, “I Know What You Want.”
“Baby, if you give it to me, I’ll give it to you/You know that I got you, hey/Shawty, if you give it to me, I’ll give it to you/You know that I got you, hey,” Trippie Redd sings.
“Yeah, baby girl, you know you hit the target/Beautiful and sweeter than a box of Boston Markets/Put a stone on you like the diamond was once lost in the Arctic,” Busta Rhymes raps.
“I Got You” is the latest record from Trippie’s upcoming album, Pegasus. It’s unclear when it will come out, so we’ll enjoy this until it’s released.
