The LSU Tigers star freshman forward Trendon Watford has declared for the 2020 NBA Draft. He was one of the best freshmen in the SEC this season and was one of LSU’s best players. It is unclear if he plans to just test the NBA Draft or fully commit to the process. Watford is not projected to be a first-round this season and that may not change. The Coronavirus Outbreak has made it nearly impossible for prospects to impact their standing in the 2020 NBA Draft.

Will Wade and the LSU Tigers will miss Watford and his talent, but they do have some serious talent coming in over the next two years. There seems to be a likely chance that they will not be getting the former five-star forward back for his sophomore season. It is a shame fans never got to see him in an SEC or NCAA Tournament game. His level of play really ramped up in SEC play this year. Watford was clearly one of the best freshmen in the SEC this past season.

He averaged 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds per game in his lone season with Will Wade and the LSU Tigers. His field goal percentage was a solid 48.9 percent, but his three-point percentage wasn’t great at 26.9 percent. He has the ability to score and he rebounds fairly well and should project as an NBA Power Forward. Watford is listed at 6’9″ and 235 pounds. There is a slid chance he carves out a solid NBA career, but it may only be as a reserve.
