The life of Trayvon Martin is being remembered today as we celebrate what could have been his 24th birthday. The Florida teenager was killed in February of 2012 at the hands of George Zimmerman. In the days, weeks, months and years since his death, the world at large has worked to fight against the untimely death of black youth in this country. As a result, a number of influential figures have used their platforms to highlight the life of Martin. Over the years, J. Cole, Jay-Z and even Barack Obama have spoken about the death of this young black man.

Today, the world celebrates the life of Martin by honoring him on what could have been his 24th birthday. Influential figures such as Common, Jamie Foxx and more took to social media to remember Martin. Common wrote, “Wishing a Happy Birthday to our Brother Trayvon Martin who would’ve turned 24 today.” Jamie Foxx added, “Gone but not forgotten. R.I.P.”
