Travis Scott is reportedly nearing the release of his latest studio album, Utopia. The Houston native will highlight the project with a special launch event at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt on July 28, 2023. According to a press release, the event is described as an unforgettable show that will immerse fans in the world of Utopia.” Shortly after the event was formally announced, Live Nation began selling tickets for the event and they flew off the proverbial shelves. In fact, tickets reportedly sold out in just 30 minutes.
Details regarding Travis Scott’s latest album remain unclear. The Texas artist began teasing a follow-up to his 2018 LP back in 2021. However, the album was delayed after a tragic incident at Scott’s Astroworld Festival led to the deaths of at least 10 people. Travis Scott, Live Nation, Drake, NRG Stadium and other involved parties were hit with a $2 billion lawsuit that was later settled. The FBI and members of Congress also launched investigations following the tragedy.
“I met with Travis Scott and his head of security for a few moments last Friday prior to the main event,” Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner said.
“I expressed my concerns regarding public safety and that in my 31 years of law enforcement experience, I have never seen a time with more challenges facing citizens.”
Approximately six months after the mass casualty incident, Travis Scott reappeared on Southside’s “Hold That Heat” with Future. Since then, he’s appeared at Day N’ Vegas and Rolling Loud while releasing singles with Pharrell and Future. Most recently, he performed at Wireless Festival in July. Now, it appears that he’s prepared to make a full return.
