The Most Valuable Player race is heating up as the season winds down. Many consider this MVP race between James Harden and Russell Westbrook to be one of the closest in the history of the sport. In fact, it is so popular, rapper Travis Scott has decided to give his thoughts on the race.
“The greatest player of all-time, the MVP, Most Valuable Player of the league,” Scott told ESPN. “He’s one of the more hardest working players I know in life, I’ve been trying to get (Harden) to go out but all he wants to do is go out and play (expletive) basketball all day. He’s amazing. It’s not a (expletive) race. Are you kidding me? What race are we talking about?”
James Harden is putting up numbers that would usually be a lock for the MVP. In a little over 36 minutes per game, he’s averaging 29.2 points, 11.2 assists (leads the entire NBA), 8.1 rebounds, and 1.5 steals. Harden leads the league in more than just assists, though. He also leads the association in free throws attempted, free throws made, Offensive Win Shares, and Win Shares.
Travis Scott isn’t the only one picking James Harden to win MVP. Steph Curry, two-time MVP award winner and first ever unanimous MVP, said The Beard should win the award. Even back in December, Harden picked himself as the MVP.
The Rockets only have four games remaining and have officially locked up the three seed in the Western Conference. The Thunder also have four games left and currently sit in the six seed, but have a small shot to land as high as the fourth seed.
