Houston’s own Travis Scott is back with a new single called “Highest In The Room”. Scott announced the release of the single earlier this release when he dropped three seemingly Basquiat inspired pieces of art work. The first piece of artwork displayed a ladder extending into the sky. Next, Scott posted a graphic with the title of the song accompanied by a black silhouette. Last, the third graphic featured the phrase, “She fills my mind up with ideas.” Understandably, it was difficult to predict what the sound and look of the new track would be based on these pictures. However, the record is here to explain everything.
“Highest In The Room” has a uptempo feel and smooth, bouncy production. Throughout much of the track, Scott talks subtly about relationships and overtly about substance use.
Scott raps, “When I’m with you, I feel alive (Ooh)/You say you love me, don’t you lie (Ooh, yeah)/Don’t cut my heart, don’t wanna die.”
Later, her raps, “Lived the life of La Familia/It’s so much gang that I can’t see ya (Yeah)/Turn it up ’til they can’t hear.”
The release of this single kicks off an upcoming run of live performances for Travis. This fall, he’ll headline Day N’ Vegas with Kendrick Lamar, Rolling Loud with Lil’ Uzi Vert and he’ll host the second annual Astroworld event at NRG Park. In the meantime, check out his new track above.
