While Toronto politics are not as much fun as they were when Rob Ford was the mayor, the new mayor, John Tory, had some pretty funny things to say regarding the Toronto Raptors first round opponent, the Washington Wizards. Of course, he expects the Raptors to win the series but it goes deeper than that. On Friday, the mayor was joined by the team’s mascot as they raised a flag that reads “We The North” outside of the city hall according to Toronto journalist Arda Zakarian via Twitter.

At the flag raising, Tory questioned the creativity of the mascots name, and then talks about how the Raptors will win the series, comparing the Wizards to the cities raccoon problem. CTV Toronto reporter Natalie Johnson tweeted what he said.
John Tory: Wizards kind of remind me of raccoons. They’re both going to lose. #raccoons

Clearly Tory has high hopes for the Raptors in their first round series and the cities raccoon problem, saying that Toronto will beat both opponents. The Raptors and Wizards play their first game of the series tomorrow at the Air Canada Centre, and here at Def Pen we agree with Tory and have chosen the Raptors to win the series.
