Toronto isn’t exactly one of the NBA’s most glamorous destinations – especially in recent years – but it’s good to see that the at least one of the current group of players is proud to say he’s a Raptor. Amir Johnson showed off his new haircut to the world when last night’s game against Orlando tipped off, the forward had the Raptors claw shaved – and bleached – into the back of his head.
Johnson said he had been seeking a change, but the urge to get the claw was spur of the moment
“I was thinking about doing something funky. I didn’t know what it (would be),” Johnson said before Friday’s game against Orlando. “I was just sitting at the house and I was just like: ‘Why not get the Raptor logo?’ It’s team spirit right there, you know what I mean?”
Head coach Dwayne Casey wasn’t a fan however.
“It’s not something I condone. I don’t promote it, my only thing is if you do that, you better be the baddest guy in the paint,” Casey said. “You better kick butt and take names later because you’re saying: ‘Look at me.’ Again, everybody’s an individual, but it’s not something I promote.”
