Jordan Peele has definitely elevated himself in the eyes of Hollywood over the past two years. Since the release of Get Out, Peele has made waves by signing a first look deal with Amazon and helping put together the Spike Lee film, BlackKklansman. More recently, Peele released the trailer for his 2019 film, Us. Also, Peele has several television series coming in the new year. Among the many new projects Peele has in the works is a reboot of the 1992 horror film, Candyman.
Backed by MGM and Universal, the reboot of the 1992 film was announced back in November. Peele has given little away about the film, but he did say that the movie would take place back in Chicago like the original. The cast has not been revealed, but members of the original cast have expressed interest. Specifically, Tony Todd has stated that he’s interested. In a recent conversation Todd stated, “Of course, I’d want to be a part of it. I helped create this character.” He later added, “I helped bring him to life, so I’m sure if Boris Karloff was asked the same thing, he would say exactly what I say. I know the character inside and out.”
Todd made his name on the big screen back in 1992 when he played the role of Candyman. Since then, Todd has appeared in 24, Final Destination and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
