As San Antonio forbid Manu Ginobili to play for Argentina, pretty much retiring him from international basketball. Tony Parker has decided not to play for France in the FIBA World Cup per CBS Sports.
Obviously it’s always tough to see my teammates start without me.
It feels like my second family is playing right now. But I have to be smart. I think it’s the right decision for me, for the Spurs if I want to play a long career. I want to play two more summers (with France) and then I’ll be done.I think for all those years, being with San Antonio, (Gregg Popovich) has always been great with me and the national team. I felt like this was a summer I can give back to the Spurs.
Tony Parker is the toast of French basketball. Leading them to last years European Championship. I think this is a good choice for Tony and it’s a great thing for the Spurs. The team were pretty flat at the start of the last season because of Parker playing for France but this summer is different and I have to say that San Antonio’s next season is looking pretty good.
