The contract extension deadline has passed us all by on October 31st and the Orlando Magic and young wing player Tobias Harris didn’t come to an agreement on an extension. The Orlando Magic have recently been building up a young talent base, they actually have the fourth youngest team in the league and it seems to be focused around center Nikola Vucevic.
Vucevic recently signed a deal with the Magic and is locked in for the next few years. Rookies Elfrid Payton and Aaron Gordon are in full helm for the next few years as well. The team also has Moe Harkless, who plays a similar position as Harris.
The real trick is not just how the team is built, but the specifics of how Harris’s move will affect his career.
Adam Zagoria of The Knicks Blog (via HoopsHype):
“I’m telling you if the Knicks come at him hard, who wouldn’t want to play for their hometown team?” a Harris confidant told SNY.tv and The Knicks Blog.
The source pointed out that the 6-foot-9 Harris plays well alongside Knicks star Carmelo Anthony. The pair worked out together multiple times this summer at Terminal 23, Anthony’s midtown gym.
“They play well together,” the confidant said. “Carmelo always had him on his team when Kevin Durant came to town and they would win every game.”

Harris in a Knicks jersey may work well. Especially after the Knicks relieve some of their salary cap woes in the summer of 2015. Not to mention, Harris, who is a signed Nike athlete, could get a small pay increase if he played for a bigger market team, like the New York Knicks.
