2018 has definitely been kind to one of the most promising rappers in today’s musical landscape. In February, Tobe Nwigwe made his debut on Sway In The Morning where he gave listeners bar after bar until he stopped himself mid freestyle. Two months later, Bill Simmons’s The Ringer did a full write up about the emerging artist. Shea Serrano of The Ringer writes, “The first song of Nwigwe’s that I heard was called “Fuego.” (At the time, it was the first one that appeared on his SoundCloud page.) It came on, and I felt all the things you feel when you hear good new music, and so that’s why I went digging around on the internet for more information about him.” Just a month later, the former linebacker dropped his latest project called The Originals. Most recently, the Houston native joined fellow Houston native, Bomani Jones, on his ESPN podcast.
Moving forward, Nwigwe continues to do the things that have garnered the attention he has so far. This week, The Originals rapper dropped of a new single and visual called “Ride”. The three minute single features Tobe’s unmistakable voice and his usual lyrical strength. The visuals show Tobe and his crew styling on a ranch somewhere out in Texas. If you have never heard of Tobe Nwigwe, this is a video you should definitely check out.
