Before reading this know that it’s been tough being a Nets fan over the years. The team who invented tanking for draft picks, moved out of my home state, are still pretty mediocre, and haven’t come close to the days of Kidd, Carter, and Jefferson. Brook Lopez gets no respect at all, and that needs to change because he has been the best thing about this team since they drafted him seven years ago.
Dear Brook,
On behalf of “real Nets fans,” and what I mean by that is not the ones who are wearing “Brooklyn” gear but are Knicks fans, I just want to thank you. You have been a true professional ever since you were drafted by New Jersey.
As the longest tenured Net, you have been through a lot during your career in the NBA. Not only have you been on some terrible teams, you’ve had to deal with playing home games in three different cities, seven head coaches, oh and the only team you’ve ever been on has tried trading you on multiple occasions.
Whether it was the “Melo Drama,” when your name was named in a deal to bring Carmelo Anthony to the Nets, or all of the “Dwight Howard saga” that seemed to go on for years, or this year when Billy King tried to trade you for Reggie Jackson and Lance Stephenson you never let it affect you publicly and recently your play has soared.
You could have let ego get the best of you, or be like Lamar Odom and force your way out after being in trade rumors, but you just went out and continued to play and as of late, it has been some of your best basketball to date.

Coming off of being named the Eastern Conference NBA player of the week, getting the Nets back in playoff contention, and currently leading the team winning eight out of 10, to quote Kevin Durant, “You the real MVP.”

23.3 points per game with four 30 point games
9 rebounds per game
2.4 blocks per game
For true Nets fans, we appreciate everything you have done for this organization. You have averaged 18 points a game through out your entire career, while grabbing seven rebounds per game, and being the teams best player since you’ve been drafted, yet you never seem to get the respect you deserve.
Maybe people will start to realize that Brook Lopez is the face of the Brooklyn Nets, and is also one of the best centers in the game. Until then keep working and proving the doubters wrong.
