Remember back in the offseason that there was word of the Cavs going for Timofey Mozgov for rim protection? Well after a mediocre few third of the season, the Cavs went for it and got the job done. Timofey Mozgov is now in Cleveland and since Anderson Varejao is out. Mozgov is their only hope for anything related to defense in the paint.
But Mozgov is up for it according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.com.
Freshly acquired Cleveland Cavaliers center Timofey Mozgov wants some patience as he acclimates himself to his new team. But he anticipates big things once he’s settled in.
“‘We’ll see,’ you can say right now,” Mozgov said before scoring nine points on 3-of-7 shooting and adding eight rebounds in a 112-94 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Friday night.
Asked before the game what impact he hopes to make on the underperforming Cavs, he cautioned, “We’ll need a couple games at least. But I think everything is going to be great.“
Cleveland fans. Give him time. Do not expect him to immediately start blocking everything. If he was like that Denver would’ve asked for more. He his not DeAndre Jordan, he is not Dwight or Drummond. But he is a reliable player and that is all you can ask for.
