In a move to possibly respond to the trade made by the Dallas Mavericks yesterday by acquiring 4-time All-Star and triple-double machine, Rajon Rondo, the Houston Rockets traded for a guard of their own. Maybe not as big of a name as Rondo, but a player that could be vital down the stretch.
This now sures-up any questions the Rockets may face as far as a solid perimeter coming off the bench when Patrick Beverley and, I suppose, James Harden come off the court. Houston Rockets made a trade that involves former Florida Gators star, Corey Brewer, as the center piece.

A great move by the Rockets to sure up that defense. They had trouble in yesterdays loss to the New Orleans Pelicans as they couldn’t stay in front of Pelicans guards Jrue Holiday and Austin Rivers on the perimeter. The duo from the Pelicans scored a combined 26 to answer the combined 30 points scored by Houston’s Beverley and Harden.
Houston acquires Ronny Turiaf in what is expected to be a salary dump to another team as Turiaf is expected to miss the remainder of this season due to a hip injury.
The real acquistion in this deal down the road, besides the picks, is by the T-Wolves acquiring the sharp shooter, Troy Daniels, from the Rockets.
If you don’t remember who Troy Daniels is, check this out and see why he may be a good piece for the future for the already youthful Timberwolves.
The kid can shooooooooot. Could be a good acquisition for the Timberwolves.
UPDATE:
Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Philadelphia 76ers are the third team in the Corey Brewer Deal.
Sources: Three-way Corey Brewer deal taking shape: Ronny Turiaf to 76ers with a second-round pick. Sixers send Alexey Shved to Rockets.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) December 19, 2014
Due to this deal and acquiring both Corey Brewer and Alexey Shved the Rockets had to release veteran swing man, Francisco Garcia.
Here’s more from Wojnarowski and Yahoo! Sports Marc J. Spears:
