A trade of reserve forwards happened between two midwest teams. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Indiana Pacers swapped Chase Budinger for Damjan Rudez.
As the Wolves were interested in getting younger, they actually traded away Chase Budinger for an older Damjan Rudez.
Following from Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Indiana Pacers have reached an agreement to acquire forward Chase Budinger in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
As part of the deal, Indiana will send forward Damjan Rudez to Minnesota, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
It seems like this deal for the T-Wolves is to get rid of a bigger expiring $5 million contract of Budinger for Rudez who only makes $1.5 million next season. Rudez will be hard-pressed to get any playing time next season as the depth chart for the power forwards is stacked in Minnesota.
For the Pacers, Budinger will come to Indiana and provide the ability for them to stretch the floor with his ability to shoot the ball from three and even run in transition and throw down some dunks.
This move won’t change the landscape for either team and what they’re plans are for next season and beyond. It’s just a nice trade by both sides to fill some needs.
