So the Minnesota Timberwolves have pretty much intrigued Tom Thibodeau, which is great. And it couldn’t have been hard, I mean they look so good for the future it is crazy. Why would you not want to coach Wiggins, LaVine, Towns? You must be mental.
But Tom Thibodeau is smart, he knows that he can do the job, but he doesn’t want to just be the head coach. Thibs wants full control.
Tom Thibodeau is pursuing the Minnesota Timberwolves’ president of basketball operations and coaching job because of his determination to have full control of an organization, league sources told The Vertical.
Thibodeau wants to have final say on player personnel, organizational philosophy and hirings, league sources said, and that’s only available with the Minnesota opening now.
So the Timberwolves are close to getting Thibs, probably the best coach out there at the moment. But now they have a negotiation on their hands. Will they trust Tom Thibodeau with their future? They haven’t looked this good since they drafted KG so this is a big decision. They can either ditch Thibs and find another coach or give Thibs the keys and put full trust in him like Detroit with Stan Van Gundy.
