Casspi, according to Stein, registered interest from the Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics in recent weeks.
He started this season with the Sacramento Kings, but was traded alongside DeMarcus Cousins to the New Orleans Pelicans last month. New Orleans intended on keeping Casspi, but an unfortunate thumb injury cut his tenure with the team short.
Minnesota (28-40) currently sits at 11th place in the Western Conference. They lost young players Zach LaVine and Nemanja Bjelica to injury for the season, and will look to use Casspi as a versatile bench forward to help cover their absence, coach Tom Thibodeau said on Sunday.
Casspi, 28, has averaged 6.1 points and four rebounds on 39 percent shooting from 3-point territory this season.
