One of the hottest rumors of the offseason involved the future of Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio. The Spanish guard was being discussed all summer long in trade rumors. All that was being discussed was the fact that Ricky Rubio was going to be shipped out of Minnesota.
Usually with rumors, they get shut down for one reason or another. This one took a little longer than anticipated but now, courtesy of Timberwolves GM Milt Newton, it’s all but official. Ricky Rubio will be staying in the Twin Cities.

As the Minnesota Timberwolves prepare to open training camp, rumors have circulated that point guard Ricky Rubio is available via trade.
General manager Milt Newton tells The Associated Press that the Wolves “are not talking to anybody about trading Ricky.”
Newton calls Rubio “one of the best facilitators in the league.” The Wolves believe they need the flashy playmaker to take charge of a young core featuring Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns, the last two No. 1 overall draft picks.
Newton is right, Rubio is a great facilitator and he is one of the top in the league, when he’s healthy. It’s been a problem for Rubio over the last few years. He’s struggled to stay on the court and his play and stats have been affected by it. Hopefully for Ricky, he’ll be healthy this season alongside all the young talent the T-Wolves have.
