Right place, right time would be the appropiate thing to say here. The Minnesota Timberwolves signed former Cincinnati Bearcats star guard Sean Kilpatrick to a 10-Day contract for 2 reasons.
1. The Timberwolves needed one more player to have the league minimum allowed 8 players suit up, because there was 8 players listed on the Wolves depth chart when the day started.
2. Kilpatrick just happened to be a convenient 134.1 miles between Newark’s Bob Carpenter Center in Deleware where his D-League team the Delaware 87ers play and Madison Square Garden, where the T-Wolves and Knicks battled for the league’s worst record. A game in which the Timberwolves won but had the Knicks improve on the tank standings.
Flip says signing Kilpatrick came down to proximity, he was playing w/ Delaware 87ers, got word this afternoon & started 3-hour drive.

Official word came from the Timberwolves page.
The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has signed guard Sean Kilpatrick to a 10-day contract. The Timberwolves were granted an NBA hardship exception for a 16th roster spot due to having four players out due to injury.
So many things to go over here. The T-Wolves injury problems this season are laughable and numerous so this move is not a surprising one. Kilpatrick even got to play in the game, despite only getting to the arena at approximately 6:45 PM.
Wolves have eight players active tonight, one of them will be Sean Kilpatrick. Per Flip, "he should arrive at the arena by 6:45."

The game started at 7:30. So there’s that.
Also, this could possibly be a good thing for Kilpatrick. Once he learns the playbook, which he’ll have to do fast if he wants another 10-day contract, he should play pretty well with the other athletic players the Wolves have on the roster. Kilpatrick has some game and he averaged 13.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 42 games for the D-League’s Santa Cruz Warriors and Delaware 87ers this season.
I’m really pulling for Kilpatrick. He had a good college career and he’s been doing well in the D League, so hopefully he can play well and channel some of the success his college team had in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Cincinnati achieved victory in overtime against the Purdue Boilermakers. Hopefully Kilpatrick can achieve some NBA success.
