Today, TIDAL is announcing a surprise. The Chronic, by Dr. Dre, is exclusively dropping on the entertainment streaming service, Sunday, April 19th, just in time for 4/20.
On Sunday at 12am ET, fans can stream the G-Funk album in advance at TIDAL.com/DrDre. The album arrives on other streaming services for the first time on April 20th, 2020.
The multi-platinum selling LP has not been available digitally for long. The Chronic was only online to stream as an Apple Music exclusive since 2015 thanks to a partnership Dr. Dre has with the tech company, elevating him into the billion-dollar tax bracket.
TIDAL’s HiFi members will have the added benefit of listening to The Chronic like never before. In this monumental drop, TIDAL will share some of the most revered bars and beats in hip-hop history in master quality audio. TIDAL users can listen to “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” and “Let Me Ride,” in just the way Doc intended.
Perhaps Dr. Dre’s most notable solo-work, The Chronic is receiving special recognition. The classic west coast hip-hop album will be inducted into The National Recording Registry of The Library of Congress.
In anticipation of the g-funk classic, members can also kickback to sounds influenced by The Chronic’s West Coast contributors Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Nate Dogg, and Daz Dillinger with Tidal Playlists like G-Funk 101. Check it out below.
