The Oklahoma City Thunder wanted to quickly put game 2 behind them, especially Kevin Durant who had one of the worst shooting performances of his career. He certainly came back and took it to the Mavs, dropping 20 of his 34 points in the first half.
”When I play well, I don’t throw a party for myself afterward,” Durant said after his 34th career 30-point postseason game. ”If I play terrible, I’m not going to go out and change anything up. I’m going to go out there and do the same thing I’ve been doing.”
Don’t forget Russell Westbrook, he did his thing as well. 26 points and 15 assists for BeastBrook. The whole OKC team was on point offensively, shooting over 50% for not just overall field goals but for 3-Pointers as well! They really couldn’t be stopped offensively, so in case they shut down in the 4th quarter like they have a tendency to do, the Mavs would have to mount a godly comeback.
They didn’t do the comeback. The Mavs are beginning to turn into the Memphis Grizzlies. They’re battered and bruised, Deron Williams was a no-show last night but hey! At least it wasn’t just Dirk Nowitzki in double digits like in game 1. Shame that the Thunder were pretty much unstoppable otherwise the Mavs would’ve had a chance.
Bring on game 4. Hopefully the Mavs can slow the pace like they did in game 2 and steal another game.
