The Oklahoma City Thunder officially won’t have Kevin Durant on the floor for the rest of this season.
Kevin Durant will not re-join the Oklahoma City Thunder this season due to his right foot injury, Thunder GM Sam Presti announced Friday.
Durant was recently removed from basketball activities and speculated to possibly miss the rest of the season with his foot not healing properly.
The Thunder say that Kevin Durant (foot) will have season-ending surgery and will be back to basketball activities in 4-6 months.

OKC says the Jones fracture in KD’s foot is “showing signs of regression.” Durant will undergo a bone graft procedure to address the issue.

That’s three surgeries on that troubled foot in six months for Durant. Hopefully he will be OK, but this is a serious issue now.

Durant had a screw inserted into the foot in October to help repair a Jones fracture. He underwent surgery on Feb. 23 to help the soreness which was followed by a series of evaluations for the reigning MVP. Durant’s timetable became shaky despite seeing him on the floor and getting some practice reps. Nevertheless, Durant’s foot is still not 100%, and the Thunder will now be without him during their assumed trip to the postseason.
In 27 games played this season, Durant averaged 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
