ROSEMARY’S BABY (1968)
Stars: Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon
Quote: “This is no dream. This is really happening!”
Synopsis: After a young couple moves into an apartment building, the wife becomes pregnant and strange occurrences start happening around the neighbors.
Scare Factor: I am pretty much going to become a hermit thanks to Rosemary Woodhouse. That is because ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ doesn’t just scare you, it haunts you. You feel sympathy for her even when all her neighbors are against her. The film is completely different from other horror films by today’s standards. No gore. No mystery. No suspense, yet it is still one of the most celebrated horror films of all time. What makes ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ so unsettling is that the audience can’t escape the inevitable conclusion we all saw coming. You better believe I won’t be making any appearances at the neighborhood block party this year. And if I was Rosemary, I would talk to a lawyer about collecting child support from Satan.
