HALLOWEEN (1978)
Stars: Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence, Nancy Kyes
Quote: “I realized what was living behind that boy’s eyes was purely and simply evil.”
Synopsis: An escaped mental patient returns to his hometown to stalk and kill a group of babysitters while his doctor tries to track him down.
Scare Factor: Michael Myers is one tough cookie. He gets thrown out of windows, pushed down stars, and beaten down and he still shows no sign of emotion. But of course that could just be his mask. ‘Halloween’ has become a staple in horror films due to its sheer creepy feel and its unusual lack of blood and gore. The film started a movement and jump started the 80s slasher film craze. It also spawned a ridiculous amount of sequels which probably do more harm than help to Myers legacy. Regardless, Myers eerie low energy persona and emotionless mask has struck terror in audiences for generations.
