A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)
Stars: Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, Johnny Depp
Quote: One, two, Freddy’s coming for you. Three, four, better lock your door. Five, six, grab your crucifix. Seven, eight, gonna stay up late. Nine, ten, never sleep again.
Synopsis: A child murderer’s ghost haunts and kills people through their dreams using long knives as fingers.
Scare Factor: Just when you thought it was safe to fall asleep to unwind, a burnt faced ghost comes along and kills you in your dreams. Thank you Wes Craven for further scaring insomniacs from naps. Freddy Krueger is one of the most famous fictitious serial killers of all time and after watching ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ you’ll know why. The flick is basically a 87 minute nightmare floating in a sea of blood at the hands, or should I say fingers, of Freddy. From girls being thrown around the room while being ripped in two to dead bodies being dragged down a high school hallway, the movie boasts classic horror scenes that have frightened teens for generations. I would suggest drinking coffee to stay awake after the film but I’m sure the sheer terror of Freddy will do that on his own.
