Earlier this month, FOX abruptly called an end to production of the third season of The Resident. Despite the disappointing turning events, the team behind the series turned the setback into a step forward. This week, the show donated its medical supplies to Grady Memorial Hospital. The show donated commonly used on items from the show’s production such as gowns, masks and gloves.
“Yesterday, I had a serious discussion with the residents about how, though supplies are low, a magical shipment of masks is unlikely to arrive,” Grady Memorial Hospital Rheumatologist Karen Law wrote on Instagram.
“And yet, a magical shipment of masks DID arrive, in the form of this very generous gesture. This kind of community support means so much to our #frontlineproviders who are making many sacrifices to staff our hospitals and care for our community,” she added.
The Resident was able to complete twenty of its twenty-three episodes for this season. At the moment, it appears unlikely that the show will be able to film the last three episodes. Instead, it will continue with the third season as is. The eighteenth episode aired on March 17, 2020.
